AGM and Talk By Devon Air Ambulance – Friday 15th November 2019
This is advance notice that the AGM will be held at Ottery St Mary Cricket Club on Friday 15th November 2019 at 7.00pm for a prompt start. This year we will also have a talk by the Devon Air Ambulance as well as the usual presentation of annual trophies and small buffet. Please let Karen Oakley know if you will be attending on 01404 841686 or email karen.saltbox@gmail.com so we have an idea of numbers for catering and so we can ensure that the prize winners will be there without telling them! We look forward to seeing you there!

Training
We have arranged a number of training sessions for the Autumn - Visit the training page for more details.

Teams
We have lots happening over the summer. Below is a roundup of all the team events from April onwards.

Intermediate Winter Championships - This was held on 26th – 28th April 2019 at Bury Farm and we had a Senior 100 Showjumping team consisting of Charly Hosking (Spratsdown Lavendar), Harrison Oakley (Shanroe Sentiment) and Charlotte Radley (Little M). Some mixed fortunes on the day saw them finish in 14th place.

We also had Harrison Oakley (Shanroe Sentiment) and Millie Pring (Nikita Thibergere) qualified as individuals in the Dressage Championships. Congratulations to Millie who was placed 8th in the Prelim Championship!

Festival of the Horse Championships - This took place on the 18th – 19th May 2019 at Aston-Le-Walls and we had a Junior 90 team flying the club flag in the Challenge. The team of Sophie Jackson (Castlecoote Storm), James Shaw (Toome Carrick Diamond), Alice Turner (Bromson Colour Addiction) and Alaya Arden (Dowhills Stan The Man) all put in a great performance to finish in 3rd place overall! Individually Sophie finished in 6th place. Well done!

Dressage To Music Qualifier - This took place at Kings Sedgemoor EC on 27th May 2019. We had Millie Pring (Nikita Thibergere) and Julie Wright (Bill Bailey) competing in the Novice. Millie was 3rd and 2nd in the qualifier and Julie was placed 4th on her first dressage to music outing!

In the Elementary we had Mercedes Pemberton-Finch (Hippity Hoy), Caroline Brimblecombe (Forty A Day) and Sarah Hitchings (Alformasi). Sarah was placed 3rd, Mercedes was placed 5th and Caroline was 6th. A great result as this was a first attempt for many of them and some very close results.

Cheryl Beer (Madam Butterfly) competed in the Advanced Medium and was placed 2nd. Some beautifully timed changes and fluent flatwork gave everyone something to aspire to!

Alexia Hollingsworth also came along for an outing riding a non qualifying test. This was her first ever dressage test and she had some lovely comments. A great day was had all round as they all attempted something new. A big thank you to Amanda Birch who has helped in moments of panic!

Horse Trials Qualifier - This took place on Sunday 9th June 2019 at Bicton Arena and was run by Sid & Otter Valley Riding Club. We had some good results which saw the Junior 90 and 100 teams qualify for the Championships as well as a mixed 100+ Area 12 team consisting of Di Guest and Jemima Dart. Jo Lee (Il Marinaio) was placed 2nd individually in the 80. Unfortunately we don’t have any other placings to hand at this time.

In the 80 showjumping we had Charlotte Radley (Little M), Jo Lee (Springtower Royal Promise), Millie Pring (Nikita Thibergere) and Liz Peach (Saffy) They put in a great performance to win! Nicky Bywood riding Sarah Cort’s Rocky competed as an individual and had a great double clear. Individually Jo was placed 5th.

Two of our members, Di Guest (Primitive Roc) and Jemima Dart (PBW Mullagh Murphy) competed with two other members from clubs within Area 12 to make up an Area 12 team.
